Subliminal Messages In Music, Films and How They Control You Through The Subconcious Mind

Subliminal communications are messages beamed directly to the subconscious mind. Since they are below the level of conscious awareness you cannot hear or understand them. Because you cannot hear the communications your conscious mind cannot reject the message.

They are soft, almost hidden, messages that are audible to your deeper, subconscious, mind or unconscious mind but inaudible to your conscious mind. Much like a really quiet whisper or the gentle rustling of leaves across the other side of the street.

They are messages designed to be conveyed below the normal limits of your perception. For instance, you’re consciously reading this page but there are almost certainly other things happening on your computer or phone or tablet. If you’re on a computer, you’ve probably got more than one tab open and there will be things happening elsewhere. I doubt you’re focused on the clock but somewhere your subconscious mind will notice when it clicks on to the next minute.

They can be hidden in Images as the illustration from 1892 by Charles Allan Gilbert shows – depending on how close you view it, the image is either a human skull or a woman admiring herself in a mirror. So remember that subliminal messages can be anywhere, not just in audios. There’s even a whole conspiracy theory debate about hidden subliminal messages in otherwise innocent Disney movies.

Everyone has heard stories of how enterprising advertising executives have flashed phrases like "You are thirsty" or Eat popcorn" on movie screens to increase refreshment sales. Some department stores use the subliminal audio message "I am honest, I will not steal" to reduce shoplifting. There is always a great public outcry when these practices are discovered. Why? Why did the Civil Liberties Union and even the Congress of the United States condemn the practice?

The truth is that subliminal messages are so effective that they scare people. When subliminal techniques were used in theaters, drink and popcorn sales soared - in stores, shoplifting was reduced dramatically. Think what an unscrupulous person could do with such weapon. They worked so well they had to be condemned. Let me repeat that thought. Subliminal communications were condemned because they were too effective. They worked too well. The ability to influence peoples actions without their knowledge could not be allowed.

During the past 50 years, thousands of universities and research institutions have studied the phenomenon of subliminal messages. Subliminal messages have been tested in eight areas of human behavior: dreams, memory, value norm anchor points, conscious perception, verbal behavior, Emotions, drives and perceptual defenses. Subliminal communications are messages beamed directly to the subconscious mind. Since they are below the level of conscious awareness you cannot hear or understand them. Because you cannot hear the communications your conscious mind cannot reject the message.
Many scientific studies have proven that if the subconscious mind is intentionally programmed with positive thoughts and ideas, that soon the conscious mind will begin to act with the information it has received and positive results can be easily obtained.

SUBLIMINAL MESSAGES AND THE SUBCONSCIOUS MIND

The conscious and the subconscious mind, making up the human brain, have often been compared to a computer. The conscious mind acts as a communication center it controls all voluntary actions of the body, makes decisions, reason, calculates. it is creative. It can think of new ideas, register pain fear, happiness. etc. in order for the conscious mind to be able to do all of these things, I have a place to pull information from, the conscious mind has a storage bank which is called the subconscious mind.

The conscious mind can reject an idea. The subconscious mind, on the other hand, can and will accept information which is not audible/visible to the conscious mind.
Subliminal messages enter the brain at a level high enough for the subconscious mind to see, hear And understand, but low enough so that the conscious mind is not aware and will not block them. in
This way, subliminal messages are able to remove negative thoughts, behaviors and habits and to Communicate positive suggestions directly to the subconscious.

So the primary reason subliminal messages are so influential, is because they bypass the critical filtering aspects of the conscious mind. They go directly to the regulating files we keep to direct our behavior.
Extensive studies reveal that subliminal programming works to affect human behavior in at least three ways;
1. By enlivening and activating healthy wishes and drives already present in one's unconscious.
2. By imparting new and useful information into one's unconscious mind.
3.By increasing one's unconscious selective attention while potentiating awareness.

Using subliminal programming, we are able to remove negative thoughts/ideas behaviors and habits and communicate positive new suggestions directly into the subconscious mind.
The subconscious mind cannot cause behavior contrary to a person's subconscious motives, drives and values. "In short, a subliminal message cannot force anyone go do anything they wouldn't want to do".
Subliminal messages only reinforce, trigger these subconscious motives, drives and values and through positive reinforcement, make them more influential on conscious behavior.

The subconscious mind is where everything we experience in a lifetime is stored. The subconscious mind retains everything. It doesn't screen information. It doesn't determine right form wrong, positive, from negative: it just stores everything experienced. For example have you ever heard a song on the radio that you hadn't heard for many years and start to sing along with it?

Did you ever try to remember something and say ``it's right on the tip of my tongue?".

It’s widely believed that there are subliminal messages hidden in music: barely audible sounds beneath the music are thought to hide the types of messages that penetrate the brain

Most of us have had the experience of walking into a store and not really knowing why. Was it magic? Were we compelled by some magical force to enter the store and make a purchase? Or was it the subliminal messages being emitted from the store that invited us in. In some way, that store advertised something in a specific way to capture the attention of your brain; and it was entirely subconscious.

What can  Subliminal Message Be?
It might consist of sounds, images, or words, transmitted via newspapers, television, advertisements, radio, and so on. These messages contain deeper hidden messages; the meanings of which are interpreted by you in one way, and in an entirely different way by your brain. Obviously, the point is to get a specific message across, and these messages go deep into your unconscious mind. Maybe you’re meant to believe something, or to purchase something, or to be persuaded to do something. It’s true that many people believe the Government uses these types of messages to brainwash people.

How Does Subliminal Messages Work?
One method of spreading a subliminal message is by product placement. Next time you’re watching a movie, concentrate on the ‘unimportant’ stuff in the background. You’ll see things that weren’t immediately obvious to you before; like an actor might be drinking from a brand-name soda can, or perhaps eating pizza from a specific restaurant chain. These are not obvious, but they’re there. Watch during the bathroom scene and you’ll notice the brand-name toothpaste sitting on the basin. Whilst you don’t realize it, these brand names are being stamped into your brain.

What Effect Does This Have?
Next time you go to the supermarket to purchase toothpaste you might be drawn towards a certain brand. You may, or may not, wonder why, but the reason is that the image stayed with you; it looks familiar, so it must be reliable and safe.
It’s widely believed that there are subliminal messages hidden in music: barely audible sounds beneath the music are thought to hide the types of messages that penetrate the brain. Many rock groups in the 70s and 80s were accused of this behaviour; of spreading evil and Satanism through subliminal messages contained within their music. Many of these messages have been translated (and some of these translations are really dark and creepy) however, there is doubt as to the authenticity of these translations due to the poor and inaudible quality of the ‘messages’.
It’s also believed that television commercials contain these kinds of hidden messages. Advertisements lasting 30 seconds might show a quick picture of something entirely different, maybe a picture or an image containing words that your conscious brain is unable to register.
Are you aware of a time when you were influenced by a subliminal message; and what’s your opinion on whether these are clever tactics or just invasive. We’d love to hear your thoughts on this.
